submerged plants ??
Trees

All living cells (except those living in volcanic vents utilising sulphur in energy cycles)  respire.  Respiration uses up the gas oxygen and releases the gas carbon dioxide.  Plant cells are no exception to this and do it all the time - day and night.

In the presence of light, green plants can photosynthesise which uses up CO2 and produces oxygen.
