Queenie loved to count Eddie Stobart trucks. We made up a "table" that she could tick and if it was possible to read the name of the truck, she wrote that down too. Failing that talking books can be quite good fun.
I still count Eddie Stobart trucks on the drive to Cardiff and back and i'm nearly 25!!
....not to mention that you never miss the programme on Friday nights, or that you made Dad follow the Biomass truck just to see if you could see which driver it was ....
haha....that was epic! This is true....I did miss it once. But I tell you I hope I never see Phoebe Grace....I feel soo sorry for dad....i'll be making him follow that WHEREVER it goes just so I can meet Mark Dixon
Oh Jem look what you've started!! ;-) Shehas a trip to Cardiff in a few weeks, with her Dad - I'm so glad I'm staying home. If she spots that truck she'll make him follow it ..
Play " nothing to do with . . . " First person says a word - any word. Second person has to say another word, with absolutely no connection to the first. Anyone can challenge if there can be even the most obscure or futile connection. Say the first is "locomotive" and the second is "squid". Someone could claim that both can move about. One player could say "Shipwreck" and the next could say "Kilimanjaro" and it is up to the players to challenge whether there is any connection. You need an umpire.
Count how many bridges you go under.
Making up words using the letters on registration plates eg SWR-swear,sword.shower,etc.Might be a bit difficult for that age though.Making up a short sentence eg.She Was Rich.Mind you,it's sometimes difficult to spot the letters-the cars go so quickly! The adults used to play too-some strange words were made!
Alphabet games ,turn about -Girls names eg.Ann,Betty,Carol.....You might have to help with the letters. Can do boys'names, towns, fruit etc
If you are no on a motorway then you could play Pub Cricket

Police like to play "Speed Trap Snooker" ............ allegedly .......

Pull over a red car first, then a colour. Which is why red cars get most speeding tickets ......... allegedly ;o)

Just wondered if it could be adapted for car-spotting?
Ed asked this a good while ago Jem and two of the answers I gave were:

Stick a fiver on the windscreen....have a huge tub of beads or two tubs each with 100 beads in and long lengths of string.....the first child to thread 100 beads on the string gets the fiver. x

Prefil a pillowcase with dozens of little objects...keep a list of the objects. The children feel through the pillowcase to guess the object. x
I was going to suggest, Snog, Marry or Avoid, but perhaps they are a bit young lol lol

Its nice to see someone willing to entertain there kids. Most people I know chuck a DS in the kids lap and tell them to be quiet.

Who am I? Is still a fun car game
