Last day of term tomorrow and I have got to carry 3 backpacks, 2 lunch boxes, 4 tins of quality streets, a bonsai tree, a board game and a mini pool table up to the school - I shall need the two weeks off to recover.

It's a mini pool table - so mini pool cues. Sweets are for the teachers, bonsai tree is a special present for thing 2's teaching assistant (took it up the school yesterday to try and get rid of it but she was off sick). Youngest three are too small to carry their own stuff. Think I am going to get himself to take us up (I won't drive up the school in the morning as the car park is manic).

Fix the Quality St tins on as wheels to the mini pool table, put everything else on top, and push. Put thing 1 & 2 on front in a harness to pull.

Joeluke, with all due respect, shove your answer where the sun don't shine. Four children - four tins of sweets for the teachers and the teaching assistants in each class (primary only - don't do it for the one in secondary). Sweets for the staff because not only do they teach my children, they look out for them when they have any problems and genuinely care about all the kids. £5 for a tin of sweets to share is not extravagant. Thing 2's present is extra special as his teaching assistant has really bonded with him and consequently his speech and confidence have come on in leaps and bounds (if she hadn't been the 'right person' he wouldn't be doing so fabulously). If you think they are paid so handsomely, why don't you try it? Expect you wouldn't last a term.

I got a lovely bauble for the tree today from one of the kids at work and it's nice to know that they appreciate all the work we do for them.

And I don't get a handsome wage Joe or a quarter of the year off. I get two days off at Christmas...

Thanks Erin, it's a smallish school and they genuinely do seem to care about the kids emotional well being too (things like trying to stop boy #2 stressing about an up-coming residential trip), letting thing 1 sit on one of their laps at a show because she is so titchy she couldn't see it. They also give gifts to the children bought out of their own money. A £5 tin of chocolates is hardly pushing the boat out.
