I still don't understand Pinto though. I know a pint is a measure but where's the definition for PINTO or where does stretched fit into it? Couldn't it be just as easily LIMBO (limb being a measure)?

Isn't a Pinto some type of horse a word used in the USA. Ford named a model of car The Pinto, smaller model than the Mustang.
