What hardy perrennials are always on tap in your area? I'm not talking the usual 4 pump clips of Fosters, Guiness Extra Cold, Stella and John Smiths. I'm talking what pubs think of as real ale but tend to be a bit samey.

Round here its all Fullers London Pride and Marston Pedigree or Greene King IPA. Bit annoying as these breweries are capable of brewing decent beers (apart from Greene King) Would be nice to see a Fullers ESB or Marstons Old Empire for a change.

On the upside since Fullers took over Gales at least HSB is more available. Even though they closed Gales brewery in Horndean and moved production up to Chiswick the taste hasnt changed. Unlike when Greene King got its hands on Old Speckled Hen.

We get Abbot most of the time up here in Warwickshire - which is usually OK. Doombar is currently spreading like chickenpox and seems to have compromised its quality in a rush for market share.

Bass is good when it's good - but bloody horrible when it isn't - unfortunately there tends to be more of the latter than the former as you get further from the Burton upon Trent mothership.

I've had some good pints of Everards over Leicester way recently - but it does tend towards the headache inducing if you over indulge :+)
Wadsworth 6x, Greene king ipa, Bass and doombar. Would kill for a pint of marlow rebellion red.
I live in Tadcaster. Nuff said.
Bays, Skinners and St Austell down here, also some Doom Rock (now bought out by Coors for a cool 20 mill). See the occasional Dartmoor, which ain't a bad tipple.
I will second the 6X and Doombar, marvelous.

Yes, 6X is a lovely drop, has a unique 'woody' flavour. Doom Bar was fairly difficult to get, occasionally on guest but since Coors got in there its all over the place. I think Coors own Bass too.

Lol Mojo - is that where John Smiths is brewed?
Yes it is. And Sam Smith's, and Coors, and Heineken.

Hey mo jo. I used to work in Tad.
I've just had 3 pints of Timmy Taylor's Landlord. Bloody lovely.
Now that is a good beer, Zacs
Oy Dave get back to you're poncy wine reviews ;-)
But you're right. My favourite when it's on form and by God it was t'neet.
Wadsworth 'old timer' will soon be available. (designated driver a must)
Is that the equiv of the old 12X they used to do, which was a stellar beer.
Yes DT. perfect winter pint. They also do their own stout now called Corvus.
Bring it down here - no one does a good mild in Cornwall - a nice pint of black and tan...............(it was the only way to drink Whitbread!).
I do apologise for my schpelling mishtayk. I blame the Landlord myself.
Skrimshander
