I'm a real wimp I know but dreading having a tooth pulled this afternoon. Haven't had a tooth removed since I was in my teens and was asleep for that. Think today it will just be an injection - aaaahhhhh. Will I need some paracetamol do you think?

For afterwards? Probably, yes
Ibuprofen would be better if you can take it.
Use either before your mouth comes round
oh, and it's all very quick
One twist and et vóila! all done
Get some co-codamol effervescent - easier to take than tablets with a wonky mouth, and the codeine really knocks the edge off the pain too.
Ooh, not nice. I think you should buy yourself a nice treat (new shoes are always good) to take your mind off it. The extraction itself probably won't be that bad, it's just thinking about it that's the problem. Extraction distraction's what you need!
Awww maggie , poor you, .It used to be a painful procedure but it is less so now. A few moments for the injection and then it will as good as damn be done. Your dentist should give you a leaflet on what to expect after tooth extraction. Stock up on some ibuprofen/ paracetamol to ease any discomfort later in the day. As kiki said, think of what you can treat your self to and focus on that . Be sure to pop back on here later, we will want to hear how you get on. I am sure you will be just fine, x
My dentist give an icepack to be held to the (outside) of the cheek after extraction. It really helps in lessening the after effects.
It will be out before you know it! Good idea to have some paracetamol handy.
had one pulled last month i also was not the bravest but never felt anything at all,so do not worry its not like the old days now!!!!!!
Dentist will be talking to you while he fumbles in your mouth, you'll feel a bit of pressure & before you can answer his question it will be done. Good Luck, let us know how you get on...

Which tooth? I had one pulled last week, the bill hurt more than the tooth extraction!
Next time ask for a twighlight extraction ,you are well out of it but you come round quickly when its over great for nervous patients or if there might be a problem. Good luck this time next week it will all be over and done with,

all i can say it hurt like hell after the injections wore off and i bled like a stuck pig had to go to a&e to get it looked at and packed (dentist was closed) and to add insult to injury i had to go back to dentist twice to get bits of tooth / bone that had been left buried but was working its way out, that hurt too !!!
Wishing you well today, Maggie. I like Nannybooby, have always been knocked out when having an extraction, lot less hassle, albeit a bit expensive.
good luck I am a very nervous patient too just let your dentist know your are nervous and afterwards go home to bed for a couple of hours wth some pain killers.
