Just caught a part of this film on Ch4 this pm.  I vaguely remember this film from when I was a kid but never found out what his character's "hidden past" was.      Can anyone help??

He'd resigned from the military after causing the death of another officer in some kind of "near miss" air accident.

He was piloting a Liberator when it was shot down,told his co-pilot to bail out while he tried to fly the plane home,unfortunately the mans chute didn,t open so he felt resposible for his death.
