How good are you at remembering peoples names? I'm truly bad and it's embarrassing.

Take for example my neighbours- on both sides I can remember the husbands names, but not their wives. But the most embarrassing one is not remembering my next door but one's name- as I take her little girl to Rainbows along with mine every week. I've been doing it for months now, and I really can't think of how I can casually say "what's your name again?" The stupid thing is, someone said her name to me thje other week, and at the the time I thought "Thank God, I now know it, must remember".....I didn't :-(

Regular daytime gin drinking will do that to you ;-p
My boss kept calling someone Antonio all day one day. Turns out that that was actually their surname!
I had the awful habit of calling my next door neighbour Frank..........his name was Jack :-(
I'm the same. I know the names of the wives either side of me but not their husbands and thought the same thing when she mentioned his name a couple of weeks ago. Immediately forgot it. I'm hoping they will put their xmas cards through the door before we do ours this year so I can nick the names from them.
I'm crap at people's names, worse with their kids, but usually a lot better with their pets - I'm sure a psychiatrist could have some fun with that ... :+()
I'm good....OH is rubbish.

The amount of gossip I've tried to pass onto him but he hasn't got a clue who I'm talking about. He does know them...I know he knows them...I've seen him in the pub with them!!
wait until she gives you a christmas card first, she will write her name on it
I have the same problem and meet lots of people in my job, but I try to overcome it by saying their name out loud when introduced. Then I use it as often as I can to start and find it sticks slightly more easily.

It still doesn't help me when I see a person in the supermarket and wonder who the hell they are....neighbour? colleague's Mum? lady from the chemist? panic, panic ...omg its that women off Trading Places!

Nice ot know it's not just me, that's what im going to have to do EvianBaby, see if they give me a card first.

Mr Boo reckons I could just ask the kid what her mum's called, but what if she tells her I asked? I just can't do it! I've a sneaky feeling she might be called Karen, but daren't call it her in case im wrong.
I''m quite good at names... My hairdresser always calls me Lauren which really bugs me. I've been going to her for about 10 years!! Lol
I'm good with faces, not so good with names, but I do remember the names of my nearest neighbour and his wife as they turned up on my doorstep one evening when I returned from work (1845ish) holding hands and saying that 'we really don't know how to say this' but you woke us up at 0430 this morning.
That was because I took my Dobies for a walk at 0430 before I left for work and caught a drink/drug(?) abuser trying to break into one of their cars, arrested him, called Police and Ambulance, he was bleeding from a head wound before I met him.
The resulting melee outside their house woke them up, they 'knew' it was me because they recognised my dogs and they don't wantg the experience repeated.
So Grahem and Paula dont worry, it won't be, next time I find someone nicking your car I'll help them push it out of the close so it doesn't disturb you, OK?
Hi,BOO,I've the same difficulty but my daughter assures me it's nothing to worry about-just my age! That cheers me up no end!I find myself going through the alphabet to remember a name.Numbers are no problem. I'm sure age can't be your excuse????

Probably is quinie, lol.

I also do that thing when im calling Mini Boo, I run through an entire list of family names before I finally hit hers.
I'm hopeless with names - but I always come clean and say, 'I'm so sorry, I've forgotten your name'. It works - no one every seems to mind.

Craft, I called someone Eileen for years. She eventually told me her name was Pat. :o)
"I run through an entire list of family names before I finally hit hers."

My mother does that.... normally starts with my Dad, then my brothers, then finally gets mine, for most of my early years I thought I was called John Paul Mark..... I was sure I must be a pope!
*ever
An Italian friend of mine always calls his wife Cara (darling)......... trouble is, other people keep calling her that, thinking that it's her name ...... embarrassing to say the least :o(
I am good with peoples names but One thing I can never remember is a friends car that I love....always call it a furgio / furago but after 5 minutes of thinking it then comes it is a Figaro. But I can never get it when I am asked.
I've found that calling your wife by your lovers name isn't always good practice
