Yes
Question Author
Will you elaborate, Jayne?
Yes ... I have tried it?
mrs.c....she probably went on a "hen night" and can't remember much about it ;-)
Question Author
Lol @ Sqad. Does Jayne go on expensive hen nights?
I was talking to a waiter at a very nice American restaurant last week. He said he went there out of professional interest, he thought it was ludicrously expensive (about $400, I think he said, with trade discount) and he hated it - experimentation and over-elaboration of stunt ingredients, without any point.

However, others obviously think differently.
=0)

Okay, sorry.

Yes, it's quite expensive, but not ludicrous. It was about £150 a head, I think.

There's a nice little summer house type of thing, down on the water's edge, where you can go with your coffee and liqueurs.

Actually, I preferred The Fat Duck.

Thanks jno.

My OH fancies going for a special treat....hellish expensive though, and I'm wavering.
Say hello to Rolf Harris for me ;-)
Question Author
Thanks Jayne.

We're thinking of an overnight stay, which pushes the price up quite a bit.
Question Author
Rolf Harris? Is he a chef? :o)
oh no, tarnation, it was the Fat Duck he was talking about not the Waterside Inn. Please disregard my previous post, mrs C, and get JJ's more informed opinion while I go away and hide.
No he just lives nearby.
Aah ... interesting to read what jno just wrote.

Yes, I'd agree with some of that. A lot of the food was over elaborate. I thought the experimenting at The Fat Duck actually worked better.

If I just wanted a good meal in that area, I'd possibly go down the river to The Compleat Angler at Marlow. The food there is great, and the view from the restaurant is fantastic, looking over the weir.
LMAO at him being a chef..
"hmm nmm nmm, numma numma num num ...heh heh, can you smell what it is yet"
Mrs C ... If you want an overnight stay, which is DEFINITELY worth the money (even though it's expensive) ... and you WILL NOT be sorry ...

... have you thought about Raymond Blanc's place ... Le Manoir Aux Quat' Saisons?

It's about the same price as The Waterside Inn, but I've never spoken to anyone who didn't say that it was worth every penny. I totally love it there.
Question Author
I think it's the "Michelin star" thing that's attracting my OH. He loves fine dining, and he loves cooking.

Me....I just love eating. :o)
Have you tried The Star Inn at Harome lately mrs.c..........they're doing a nice menu at the mo.

JJ is right

Le Manoir ....

first class
Well, Mrs C ... I think everyone should eat in these places at least once ...

... so maybe this is the right time to do it.
