19d Rouse veteran, low inside so long
14d Out of area, found statue to support impressive Greek philosopher
19d is MOO (low) inside AVE = AMOOVE (rouse)
14d = Xenocrates (Greek Philosopher)
Xeno = foreign/out-of-area

at the moment not sure how the wordplay fits 'crates'
I'm now confused (though watching Baftas at same time...) - are you showing the correct number of spaces, MarMatMal?
This is from Times Mephisto

14d Epictetus
Ah!
L-i K, you have made me look again - I thought I had it but your comment makes me realise I had one too many letters. I'll try again.
JMR's got it with 'Epictetus' - anag 'st(a)tue' (supporting) 'epic'

I'm learning lots today - a new philosopher now! :-)
