this is an odd one! How can an ABer be unpleasant for want of another word, to another without reason when they have never met in the real world?

The trolls are not included and I am not meaning anyone in particular either, everyone knows about mine and sqads differing opinions but we have overcome them till the next time anyway..lol
I can't find it in myself to be like this with anyone and why should I?
Someone could come in with a perfectly reasonable question and very often get a rebuff or a put down for it.
It does get very tedious all the nicey stuff, but to be arrogant and not cooperative for no reason, I don't get that, is it the 'style of writing' they dislike...lol or perhaps the answers given by that person...it's odd !
I certainly know of at least one Aber who dislikes me with a passion and that is her prerogative, but she has never met me before, do we judge too quickly? and before I get the usual 'cr@PPY' stuff like I'm flouncing about it, I'm definitely not...LOL
I would like to see it debated and perhaps see what others think, and this is not all about me at all, how many others have had put-downs without reason?
I am now reaching for my hard hat..LOL

hi mutha its just bravado they hide behind a screen
Question Author
hello pet, yes I know that gets said often, but in as much as friendships have blossomed I wonder how decisions on another people are made where they are only on a screen..lol
simple answer....bad manners
Question Author
morning woof I would like to think manners would be used at from the average ages in here?
Bobbi--just my view what you get on here is just a cross section of the world as it is.
Some very kind interesting and helpful people, and some downright nasty and spiteful people. In other words ,the good, the bad, and the completely barmy.Best not to take anything too seriously, shrug off any personalised comments and just enjoy the friendships you know you have made.
I don't understand it myself Bobbi. A bit of banter is all well and good and can be very funny at times but sometimes people on here seem to be nasty and abusive for the sheer bluddy hell of it. Frequently I have seen very reasonable questions on here answered with visciousness and venom which seems to be for no other reason than they can.
I don't know why people would be like that, if you have never met some-one you can't really know what they are like. Friendly banter is one thing, but hurling abuse or putting other people down, I feel is not called for. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but it doesn't mean we all have to agree. Some people ask a simple question, just looking for an answer and I am suprised they don't just take off from AB.

How can you really make a decision about some-one without having met them, as you say they are sone-one who is on screen.

On a forum I am a member of, if anything like that went on you would be banned for life. We used to have a forum member who was a very nice man, unfortunately he and his wife were killed in a car crash in March. I am glad that there was no nastiness on our posts.

hello brenda, it really isn't about anyone or me for that matter, no one for weeks has said anything untoward to me, I am just curious that's all, I thought it could start a lively debate, I know you're right as well tho'

I am pretty new to this and find some of the comments a bit scary... and just unkind It would make me think twice about asking another question Its a shame cos a lot of you seem to know each other really well and there seems to be a lot of good support stuff going on.
And some really sensible answers to problems I think I'll stick around a bit longer and see what happens...
Question Author
now we seem to be getting the debate I am after, I would think night time is often fuelled with drink from the 'nasties' but does happen during the day too, maybe we have all day drinkers..lol
i think some come on here just to wind people up. in the real world they would never mix with others.
go in any pub and there are people you will not like and you will smile but try to avoid being in their company.
Question Author
rowan you have to take the bull by the horns and ask away, for all every nasty put down there would be a dozen helpful answers,
Question Author
maybe an animated avatar Dr Filth, using the 2 finger sign may help eh..lol, then you could activate it if and when, that would be fun
I also think that because things are 'said' on screen it is sometimes very difficult to interpret the person's meaning - irony, sarcasm etc can be missed and offence taken very quickly.
Thanks Bobbi

I'll carry on offering answers too....be a while before I'm brave enough to 'chat' though.
Bobbi i have seen an avatar that i would have liked but i don't think the ed would let me use it because of the sites rules on decency
"go in any pub and there are people you will not like and you will smile but try to avoid being in their company"

That's very true DrFilth unfortunatley instead of avoiding certain people and their posts some people on here go out of their way to aggravate.
Question Author
me too Dr..I would love it...lol
in a pub you wouldn't' entertain some of the people who come on her would you?
The annonimity (sp?) that the screen offers can sometimes add to people's atitude. They'd probably never have the cajonas to say to people's faces what they type in here. Bluddy Cowards!
" The Philosophy of life" eh! bobbi? Books have been written about it, but my very superficial comments only apply to CB and not to any other sections, putting my own personal slant on the topic.

CB is predominantly female, at a guess 95% female and 5%male. The nastiness, mainly comes from that 95% ( you have excluded the trolls in your question who were entirely male)

Intonation and meaning are often misinterpreted in email form despite the LOL.:-) 0-( etc and I think that this may well pose problems.

Brenda is correct, CB is a microcosm of the real outside world with the widely varying personality traits.

Many people need to be liked, they need to be told that they are liked and they need to feel needed.( I don't) Many people cannot stand the bonhomie of some posters and if replicated thread after thread, post after post, day after day, week after week....boring ( I do)

To liven up debate, they post contentious comments, not necessarily believing them, but just to "liven things up" (I do)

Many people write things and then regret them (I do)

Many people have a "chip on their shoulders" and cannot hide this, whilst others are vindictive and can't help showing it.

sqad is happily married......big turn off.
sqad sh@gging next door neighbour.............rotten old sqad, time for a thread.

CB is very similar in my opinion to the act of Les Dawson and his mate dresses up as old women....slagging someone off............good fun.

Bottom line...........you are looking at a screen which alleviates the boredom of your life all, or at a certain time of the day.
