Here is a link to 'Solo jeopardy' by Columba.

There is an American spelling in an important clue, and there
may be an 'outcry' over 13a!

An enjoyable fun puzzle.

Thank you K and mintyman, and congratulations to Mrs. King who struck the right note with ring-tone.
Thanks again K and M...
My thanks too to those who provide the link
Hello all - just to identify myself as the Mrs. King of the ring-tone. We are having a good run at the moment, aren't we? Am away at the moment in Lincolnshire so limited computer access but about to download this week's offering before whizzing out

Hi Jackie. Congratulations on your success with 1938.

Glad you plumped for 'Tone' after we spoke, as it was one of those
annoying multiple choice solutions.

Regards K
Good morning all and thanks to K and M. I was totally out of crosswords so this will keep me occupied...probably for some considerable time:o)
I plumped for 'tone' but it didn't help me with the hat.
anyway many congrats to Jackie.
and many thanks indeed to K and Mintyman for the PDF's - much appreciated
Congratulations Christiana. :-)
Yes, let's keep this good run going.
Congratulaions Christiana. Three wins in a row for ABackers: Slaney, Christina and moi.
As MNL Rugby says, "Let's keep this good run going."
Who will be next?

You forgot to mention "et moi" last week! ;-)
Sincere apolgies MNL. I don't use this site very often so I missed the fact that you also had won. Congratulations.
An outcry over 13a indeed. 16d is another (but similar) story.
Thanks for the links kayakamina and mintyman-I enjoyed this puzzle- probably because I got the theme straight away and could fill in some of the unclued lights and the three related answers before attempting the others.Although I had never heard of the "alternative" definition of 13 across -Chambers to the rescue!
Last letter of 41A...Is it E or S?
Worked it out now....It's neither?
