How can I send free SMSs from the Internet?

I often need to send free text messages from the Internet, but do not know the site to use. A lot of them claim to be free, but then have the charge to charge the fee of �6.00 per month or so. Do any ABers know of any site which will not charge for sending texts from the Net, and not ask for personal details?

I have found one, but it does not always work. See below:

got to say ... sounds suspicious ... and a little worrying..
also nothing is for nothing ... undoubtedly the site will plant some popups and sell on the numbers to spammers or "marketing leeches"
