Dialling code 011 441 493 xxxxxx - is this a valid UK dialling code

Can anyone tell me whether the following number - 011 441 493 xxxxxx - which I have been given by a colleague in USA, is a valid UK dialling code(he has assured me that it is). It doesn't look like a UK number to me.

It is - the 011 represents a number outside the US, and 44 is the UK dialling code. These digits replace the '0' in the national dialling code.

He has given the entire number he would dial from the USA - 011 is for International dialling and 44 is the country code for the UK.

Remove the '011 44' from the front of the number and replace with 0 to get the number for you to dial if you are in the UK. So the number will be 01493 xxxxxx.
