Good Evening AB Linkers, everywhere and welcome to "The Perils of Poor Pauline"! Let me explain.

Last month, there was an epic struggle between Alibobs & AllyLally which resulted in a last-minute victory for ex-champion Alibobs who graciously stood down in favour of first-time winner AllyLally. I therefore embarked on an AllyLally Hunt, however all was in vain as (through nobody's fault) my attempts to make contact were fruitless. It can take about four emails to "train up" a new champion to meet the MM standard (there are tricks of the trade which are divulged only to the select few)!

The clock was ticking and I became desperate. I mean really desperate! With only two days ago I needed a back-up plan. I had to have someone who knew ropes, who can take the pressure and yet would be a worthy Links Setter. I began thinking the unthinkable!
Pauline Ward had held court in my absence, she had an excellent score last month (and missed out on bonus points by only one minute to take her to even greater heights) and I had been saved from the rhymes of "Lady Limerick". She would do a great job!

I am happy to say that Pauline has accepted and has prepared something in record time for tomorrows MM launch. My thanks are due to her AND to Alibobs for her generosity (I hope that I see you back this weekend exercising your awesome linking skills). My apologies go to AllyLally for abandoning my search so early (maybe next time?). I also look forward to seeing you chancing your arm once again.

I dont expect there to be much improvement from those miscreants lurking in the Shrubbery. The sport is open to all and newcomers are truly welcome ~ and with every chance of success. The four words to be linked will be declared at 9.00am tomorrow, when MM Links kicks off in earnest.

The international version of this same game is called KM Links and kicks off at the unearthly hour of about 06.30am! Look out for seekeerz from Oz who provides the sustenance and moral support for all entries. Why not chance your arm at both?
Oh dear....are you all really able to cope??

I am here slightly by default, but only too happy to oblige.
I will try to keep it short and sweet...I think!! :-))

Now where's the wine?....I am really ready for a drink tonight!!
"Miscreants lurking in the Shrubbery" ?
CALUMNY, defamation - moi, I do NOT lurk

Pauline Ward in charge (oh crikey Strix, think female, think bunches of flowers, chocolates, hot drinks, white wine, T.V. soaps : i.e. not a bl**ding chance)
AND I bet that evsajo lady will be helping too (think car boot sale, chipped Wedgewood saucer, Art Deco coffee pot)
Sarumite, why didn't you win? And then we could have had links to Barbarians, Harlequins, Fullers ESB, Gales HSB, Sam Inch's cider, leather on willow, Leander etc
Oh woe, double woe

Ah well, Pauline is always asking where I remember all the old tracks from, so here and just to cheer me up and hopefully you all of you, this is a song from way back when which I first heard on a John Peel Saturday afternoon programme way back in the late 1960's, and maybe I AM the Old Music Master:

Hey Strix...Sarumite has NO chance...he will be here next Friday night...with Kay and me!! We will have him eating out of our hands!!! :-))

Reg says you are showing your age now with that...even he hadn't heard it before!!
You are telling me that sarumite is leaving the safety of Wiltshire to venture to some northern clime just so he can bribe you all with fizzy wine and fine confectionery and thus be tipped the wink as to the links.

Oh, what a traitor.

p.s. Sarumite, leave an envelope with the links inside behind the bar in the Haunch of Venison - promise if you do to buy you some pints.

I beg for mercy:

hey strix it says in the paper today that youtube has to hand over every clip every user has ever watched.
Viacom want to know all that we have watched for a copyright battle

it was in the Sun so it must be true!

hope we are not all going to have to pay for all those tunes!
Good evening fellow linkers.
Well done Pauline for taking up the link setter vacancy so soon, maybe you may bring me some luck.
How did your body swap party go last Friday - we missed you in the shrubbery, although you did make a brief appearance.
Good records Strix, I remember Hoagy Carmichael, he was also a great song writer.
Mercy by Duffy is quite a recent record and one of the few new tunes of today to compare with the "oldies"
Hi Jan, - yes I saw that in the papers, was also on the TV news- does that mean we will we all get a bill ?
Jan, they will have fun trying to find us and part us from our, in a depression, non-existent money, won't they?

Any excuse, eh?

Hey x-ray...a body swap party sounds great!!

It was a body shop party, my daughter was holding...Anne Summers was nowhere to be seen!:-))
Thank goodness!

Just been talking to Sarumite...Strix, he says he will be popping in a bit later on.

He sounds like he's been very busy!
is he packing already Pauline, judging from what you said earlier all he needs is a pair of socks! (that'll start the tongues wagging!)
Got a neighbour in...won't be long!!!! I hope!!!
Keep me a drink!
sorry Pauline crossed in the post
ofcourse will save you a glass or two.
nice and warm in the shrubbery tonight, need some more music to dance to strix, I have put my handbag in the middle to dance round
Hi all, I had better not have a go at the links tomorrow even though I haven't got a clue what Pauline's words are. It is a big event in Lichfield tomorrow...The Medieval Market which is held all around the cathedral with stalls from all over the country (one from Cornwall). All the stallholders wear medieval costumes and there is a parade with jousting knights etc. and then displays all day. It's a wonderful event and I love it but the weather forecast for tomorrow is awful and that will be the first time I can remembering it raining on MM day.
Can't think of a medieval tune to post!!!!!
Just think this time next week I will have met Sarumite for the 1st time !!!!!!! Now that will really confuse you Strix, you won't know which one of 3 it is, but they will all say" Pauline" and you will just have to believe us when we tell us who we really are!!!!!
good one strix, used to really dance to that one
bit quiet here again tonight is everyone on their jolly holls?
I shall be away next weekend, shall have th elaptop but not sure of the connection
will join you all if I can I am going to Trecco bay on the river Severn
Why do neighbours call on a Friday night!!??
Will send Kay to door next week, and tell them to clear off!!

Where were we???
sorry that should read "tell you who we really are"
ps. I never buy chipped items !!!!!! well not knowingly!!!!
Kay it's okay for next week...a few computers about, with the girls, so you will be able to log in on your own name!!

Now let's liven things up a bit!!

Music Meastro.....please!
