21d Gajos (reverse so jag)
24a Jook (jo, Scots beloved, + ok)
Question Author
Thanks. Janusz Gajos did some travelling. Is that the connection with for travellers...?
Jook has many meanings. I don't fully understand the wordplay.
Gajo (or gorgio) is the gypsy word for non-gypsies so gajos is defined as 'For travellers, others'. That is the connection.

Scots love = jo, a Scots word for a beloved one.
Fine = ok
So the answer is jook, another Scottish word meaning duck or dodge.

This crossword is geared to using unusual or obscure words which you can usually find in the Chambers dictionary. Good luck, Aeronut.

P.S.
Are you a chocoholic or an aviation buff?
Question Author
An aviation buff, and thanks for being so helpful.
I've been using Chambers, Collins, and the OED, but sometimes that's not enough.
You're right. Sometimes Google can be the way to go. Especially if you do the TLS crossword, where Google helps to fill the huge gaps in my literary knowledge!
