Why noy leave Diana alone?
I have just seen a brief news piece about the third and final inquest regarding Princess Diana's death. Two governments have deemed her death an accident. From my American perspective, she was a young girl who grew into a fine woman and humanitarian. Her two sons seem to be fine young men who have to endure even more pain with this latest inquest.
I am not so naive as to believe it is impoosible for a conspiracy, but enough already.
As I am sure you are aware the Royal Family is always a bit mysterious and romantic to most Americans and perhaps Diana's life and death have been romanticised here by our media, but shouldn't she be left to rest at this point?

Well if we are going to be blunt about it, the royal family are as much to blame for the death of Diana as anyone.
Behind the "royal" facade they are rather a nasty and dysfunctional lot, and the more the public hear about the goings on in the royal family the less they like them.
Firstly, the royal family insisted Charles marry a "young virgin" (as opposed to a woman who may have had previous relationships).
Diana was that young virgin, lamb to the slaughter as they say.
She was very young and inexperienced, and leading up to the wedding the royal family did not do enough to help her, she was left to "get on with it".
Like many members of the royal family through the ages, Charles has his "bit on the side" (Camilla) and refused to give her up even though he was marrying Diana.
We all remember the day the engagement of Chalres and Diana was announced and a member of the press said to Charles "do you love her" and he replied "whatever love means"
We should have seen the writing on the wall then.

Many royal "wives" had to accept their husband was seeing another woman, but put a brave face on it in public.
Diana could not, or would not, do that (because she thought that Chalres and her were in love and he was her knight in shining armour).
She caused scene after scene in private, such throwing herself downstairs, and in the end Charles, and the duke of Edinburgh, and others got fed up with her tantrums.
She was virtually forced out of the royal family.
I think in the end she was so determined to get her own back that she deliberately went out to look glamerous and find popular charities to support.
Going out with Dodi (a Muslim) the son of Al Fayed (who the British government hated) was a great way for her to rub the royal families nose in the dirt.
I dont think anyone comes out of this well.

This is a facinating (almost documentrary like) film showing how the royal family reacted when Diana died, and how it compared to how the public reacted.
It was also just after Blair had come to power so he was "piggy in the middle", trying to convince the royal family that their stance (remote dignity) was not what the public wanted.
Facinating look at the "private" side of the royal family in all its horror.
Some wonderful moments, such as after Diana has been killed because of the hounding of the press. To take the sons minds off it they go hunting a stag in the Scottish mountains, chasing it until it is exhausted. Such irony.
Amazing performance by Helen Mirren as the Queen, and Michael Sheen as Blair.
Well worth hunting out.

The rumored announcement was supposedly that she was pregnant. In some of the made for TV conspiracy movies it was implied that this was one reason for the murder and the Medical Examiner was paid to keep it quiet.
I am guilty of watching and reading these things even though I wish it would be put to rest so that the family, and the country can heal and move on. In America we do not have Kings and Queens, so for a Princess to have been so public and lovely and available are the things that I know always held my fascination as a youngster and still does today I guess.
I do remember my mother waking me in the early morning hours to watch the wedding and felt like it was like a movie
with all the horses and people and castles.
