Is it neccessary to have a spice/coffee grinder as well as a pestle and mortar

Mk - It isn't necessary if you have one coffee grinder dedicated to coffee and one dedicated to spices - if you try to use one for both - you might have some VERY interesting tasting coffee:)
i wouldnt want to grind coffee beans in a pestle and mortar. give me an electric grinder any day
A coffee grinder for hard things, fennel seed etc.
A pestle & mortar for soft stuff like garlic with salt.
