Backed by Rishi Sunak, the author took to social media to hit out at the Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act, external which came into effect on Monday.  Under the new law, "stirring up hatred" relating to age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, transgender identity or being intersex is now classed as a criminal offence.  The maximum penalty under the new act in Scotland is a jail sentence of seven years.

The prime minister said: "We should not be criminalising people saying common sense things about biological sex, clearly that isn’t right.  Football pundit Ally McCoist has also given his support to JK Rowling, calling the legislation "madness".

I don't know why anyone needs a judge to tell them that men are men but would arresting J K Rowling and dragging her before the courts for telling the truth go a long way to stopping this lunacy once and for all?

I completly agree with J.K but I'm afraid I dont have much faith in the judiciary to come up with a decision putting a cybosh on this nonsense

I didn't see the PM backing any objection to Hollyrood passing law that could affect UK citizens outside of Scotland. Bit late backing anything now.

It'd make case law but I'm unconvinced a single precedent will necessarily stop the madness.

Guess which 'group' are the only ones not protected by the HCPOA?

Women. That's who.

Day 2 of this Act and the legal system (prosecution-wise) is staggering under the weight of vexatious accusations.

I'm thinking of going over the border to reiterate my belief that 'men are men' and see what happens.

You don't need to go over the border, just as long as someone over the border reads it and thinks someone else may possibly feel threatened or whatever. Then you will have committed a non-crime and it may go on your record.

> Guess which 'group' are the only ones not protected by the HCPOA?

> Women. That's who.

And men.

Ellipsis - Ok.....and men.

But there are presently no demands that men acquiesce in any way shape of form to women, nor that they are under the threat of 'law' if they don't.

I don't mind if women want to come and change in the mens, even the butch ones!

Does that include trans women TTT?

when I say men I mean those with a Y chromosome pasta the rest are women. Surprised you are not aware of that biological fact.

> But there are presently no demands that men acquiesce in any way shape of form to women, nor that they are under the threat of 'law' if they don't.

Yes, there are, because everything that you say about trans women also applies to trans men.

As it happens, I've been in a communal changing room with a trans woman.  It was at a golf club -  a very progressive golf club, with women and black people and everything😉  - a few years ago, and it wasn't too clear what changing rooms were appropriate. To be honest, it was an uncomfortable experience for all concerned, which taught me that the "problem" isn't trans people, it's mixed spaces, especially just two of them labelled "male" and "female" ...

there's no such thing as "trans woman" it's a kin geezer FGS!

It's a kin geezer who deep down is convinced they are really a woman, despite all evidence to the contrary. It's a mental issue.

OG: "It's a kin geezer who deep down is convinced they are really a woman" - nope it's a geezer that has realised they can get into womens changing rooms and sports or at the very least they can get a lot of attention. Deep down they know what they are. It's the modern day nazis that let them get away with this BS.

the rare real cases get on with it without making a fuss, end of.

> Deep down they know what they are

For that to work, "they" would all have to think the same way  as you think.  But no, trans people are different to each other, let alone different to you.

> It's the modern day nazis

You said it. Take a look in the mirror.

I'm well aware of biology TTT. I'm just wondering...can you/would you recognise a trans woman in your changing room?

It's a shame that 'Be kind' only works in one direction.

As I said elsewhere, there is far more to the matter than toilets and changing rooms but these seem to be the high-profile issues which grab the headlines.

pasta: "I'm well aware of biology TTT. I'm just wondering...can you/would you recognise a trans woman in your changing room?" - I've never seen one I can't tell is a geezer on sight so if they are a geezer I have no objection to them using the geezer's changing rooms. Surprised you have difficulty with that.

First of all can we dispense with this ridiculous terminolgy? There is no such thing as a trans woman/man.
