23 An abbreviation Albert is followed by a five-letter for word hatred.

33 Your R is wrong. An everyday word for Bravery loses its first letter and you're left with an everyday word meaning the state of being ancient, being around for a while.

39 I really liked this clue - and would love you to get it, appreciate it! Where would you find a saw, inside a ....?

21 A simple anagram (rogue is the indicator(

31 The usual peacekeepers (peacekeepers' here!) followed by a short word for assistance.

39 Yes, it is an excellent clue.

Donny48, glad to hear someone else likes it.

10 D.  The usual (tedious) 'it' in crosswords, the usual revolutionary and an abbreviation for money will lead to a chief, noun.

39A Got it (with your hints)! Brilliant clue. Thank you.

Thanks, Boethius - and I didn't give much of a hint for that one!

Matakari, hope these hints were effective?...

Thanks for these clear hints, NACW! Got all except 33a and 39a. A nice little challenge!

Great to hear you're faring quite well, Matakari - am sure it won't be long until you're finished the 'nice little challenge'!

PS You'll have a slight advantage later...

I've gone hungry now...

Many thanks, NACW, for the hints! I’ve got the theme and this was confirmed by Tilly’s comment about going hungry. I’m still left with the following clues that have me puzzled. Thanks for any help!

41a  Class touring Catholic school (4) : SE??

28d Comes back in a state – beard’s oddly cut (7) : A?S?E?S

Matakari, glad AB finished this off for you - and I'm sure the puzzle gave you food for thought!

Question Author

Good morning, NACW, thanks for all the hints! I enjoyed this one though I was on the brink of an indigestion! It was quite mouth watering! Just on final clue for confirmation, though!
 40 Setter’s aboard vehicle in coat (5) : ?IMAR

I've opted for CIMAR ( reference to vehicle...).

Thanks, Matakari - Yes, I'm,setter's, inside (aboard) Car. cimar (sometimes Cymar) is a loose coat.

Question Author

Many thanks, NACW!

Thanks, Matakari - I'm a little surprised you couldn't parse that yourself, seeing as you had the Car with I'm inside. You'll need to trust yourself more!

Nearly there, but still no clue about the unclueds!
