Ive posted before about not owning a tv.

(A bit like vegans always have to let you know that they are vegans the minute you meet them, I know..)

But my sister and her new BF paid a visit a couple of days ago and he was like "where's your TV"?

Just what the hell is it that people can't comprehend that NOT owning a TV was the norm just a few decades ago?

I watch much more intersing stuff on you tube than the latest storyline on eastenders or whatever.

Honestly dont get the idea that i need a TV.

I occasionally miss a good movie here and there and the occasional drama (I would have liked to have seen the recently aired "The Reckoning") but my life is no less different because I havn't.

I wouldnt have a TV in my home again.

Why would I when Ive got plenty of entertainment here on AB?

My niece also visited for the first time a few months ago and also commented "What do you look at, at night"?

Coincidence, I've just invested in a TV after many years without - I'm going downhill rapidly probably.

But I've also joined YouTube Premium so I can download videos to play on my TV hopefully (if I can manage the technicalities).

I also got used to "What, no TV?" comments.

No tv ? Who knew . ?

You still spend some of your time watching moving images on a screen, you just choose not to use a big TV to do so.

We watch YouTube on our big tele

Since I  got a new contract and have 60gb a month I now spend more time on the net than I  do watching TV.

I just dont get the idea that someone without a tv is odd in someway?

I've got 3 TVs and I haven't watched any of them for months.

I turned my spare bedroom into a sort of study and like you, I watch YouTube video catch up etc oh and AB on my computer.

I would never have the TV on if I had company anyway.

It's odd only because most people do have a TV.

No TV is an oddity. It doesn't mean that you are odd.

And why would I need a 'big screen' anyway?

My eyes are quiet capable of viewing a small laptop sized screen.

If I wnat a bigtop then I go to the cinima

I gave my TV away about a decade ago.  It was a flat screen TV.

I watch youtube or catch-up on line.

I don't miss it.

I once went 7 or 8 years without a TV and I found the worst thing was the 'threatening' letters about sending someone round if I didn't pay, even though every year I sent their letter back saying I didn't have a TV.

For the amount of TV I watch these days, I suppose I could quite easily just get rid.

Watching movies on a laptop or tablet is great - if you're on your own.

A TV is better for family viewing

My tv is company...a voice in the background. Radio doesn't do it for me...I can't say why though. There are programs I enjoy...like reliable friends. I do watch some YouTube content on my tablet that I subscribe to...but it gets hard on my eyes.

Don't get me wrong, there are times I wish I could do without it. So I don't think you are odd...maybe lucky that you can do without.

I honestly dont get the obession with TV.

Had one for parts of my life but never missed it when not.

Never had one in prison (except for the last few weeks of a sentence over 20 yrs ago)

Had one since but mainly for watching vids on.

Actual TV is banal.

Internet is so much more fun.....
