I am glad to see many other people love The Oldie. I can usually do their Moron crossword but never the Genius one. Do any of you manage to complete that one?

Never tried either, but enjoy the odd clue posted on here. Perhaps at 68 I don't feel like I'm ready for The Oldie ----- yet. ;0)))
I can't do cryptic crosswords but we've got plenty of experts around here (such as Dannyk13, Captain2, Mamyalynne, et al) who could probably do the Oldie cryptic in the blink of an eye ;-)

Although I subscribe to The Oldie, I have to admit that I don't often bother with the Moron crossword either. If you're into non-cryptic crosswords though, Stargazer, I hope that you try the ones I set here occasionally. (Which reminds me - it's about time I finished the one I started work on before Christmas!)
Captain2: Just let me know if you'd like me to scan some Oldie crosswords and upload them, so that you can have a go at them.

This magazine is simply the best and you really ought to try a copy. I first came across it several years ago in a hospital waiting room and have been hooked ever since. The contributors are top class and the letters very insightful and
informative - entertainment at its best.
Thanks for the offer Chris. Perhaps you could post one and I'll have a go.

Stargazer, I do know of the magazine and if Ingrams is still in charge I can imagine it being very entertaining and devilish. I may try a copy.

I looked back to find this from EDDIE and I could not have put it better.
"Had to wait a few hours in a hospital yesterday while my son was treated.
There were a few copies of 'The Oldie' magazine in the waiting area, I read them and for the first time in years actually laughed out loud. It is VERY funny . I am going to take out a subscription , any one else on AB a reader ? It would suit a lot of the 'regulars' on here."
I used to read it regularly on the train to and from work many moons ago but after reading this thread I think I'll start buying it again. Could do with a laugh.

EDDIE51 posted the above on 29th January 2013. I don't know if you are still around Eddie but this magazine had the same laugh out loud impact on me in a Hospital waiting room. I am embarrassed to admit that I secreted (i.e. stole) it from the Hospital in order to

I hope you do Ladybirder. And I hope that by talking about it others will be encouraged to buy their first copy. It is a superior publication.
Eddie hasn't looked in here since July 2020:

I find the cryptic crosswords easier than the Moron style, not sure what that means about my brain though !
