The truth of the matter is that many supermarkets have had their way of working disrupted, nearly all of them work on a just in time basis. The disruption is for many reasons. Like hearing it or not, Brexit is one of them. Now some may insist that they have not experienced a shortage regarding their own personal shopping list, but one thing is for sure is that your...

Aelmpvw @ 13.02 Spot on ..well done.
We have just had christmas where the public go on a massive spending spree. It is not unusual for the shelves to be stripped of produce at this time of year.

Also, because of the way Christmas and New Year fell this year, we have had a string of bank holidays with drivers not working for the best part of 10 days.

The shelves will soon be replenished.
Roy, Its the empty heads who will not want to engage with this post may be? The ones that refuse to believe that the OP is happening.

// No empty shelves in the EU //

It is usual to provide proof if you are going to assert something like that.
// One Lorry driver had driven from Poland, but told he had the wrong paperwork. //

whatever you think of brexit or its perpetrators, the rules have been in place for more than a year now. there can no longer be any excuse for trucks arriving at the point of entry with the wrong documentation. the fault for something like this rests with the importer.
The winter of discontent normally starts after Xmas when people finish celebrating and reality hits home. :0)

goodgoalie 13.36......Why.
My local Asda had gaps on the shelves yesterday.
They have the produce in the back warehouse but can’t get it out because a high number of staff are off ill.
No empty shelves in any of the three supermarkets I went to this morning, not were there any last week, my feeling it is far more to do with Omicron and people having to isolate rather than being able to work. Also it's turnaround time as the Christmas stuff is cleared and the Valentine's /Easter stock hasn't arrived yet as it isn't a business priority.
