I was shocked when I saw this on the news earlier and although the woman caught him off guard when she pulled him towards her, was he right to smack her hand like that?
He has since apologised but it's not really something you would expect to see from the Pope.

Agree Barsel, certainly tarnished his halo somewhat, he reacted very grumpily very quickly. I was quite shocked.
It was a bit disturbing to see.
One's children needs a slapped wrist occasionally. When they've been naughty.
yes very wrong. If anyone else had done that they would have been accused of assault
Too much internet, not enough class from the faithful.

Mind you, if you're going to put it about that you're a man of the people don't be surprised if the great unwashed want to check you're real.
He's human, he apologised for doing wrong.
well bully for him.....if anyone else had done that they would probably have also said sorry, but would maybe be hit with a law-suit for assault.
I think I'm the only one who has seen what looks like a grimace of pain as she yanks him towards her.

I have replied accordingly.
The Pope is invaluable; therefore, he can do no wrong.
He'll be fine, I'm sure.
She really did yank him and she was wrong to do that.
no you haven't answered it -its a yes or no question 'was pope francis in the wrong'?
A reaction from a man in a role that leaves him vulnerable to the over enthusiastic, it looked unpleasant but hardly worth wasting time energy and column inches on.
Last three words of my reply...

//for doing wrong//
They were both wrong imo.

alba I don't know if it was a grimace of pain or just a look of shock. The woman obviously took him by surprise but I still don't think that gave him the right to smack her hand. The fact that he reacted to her in this way I find quite worrying.
he apologised for the 'bad example' -he didn't apologise for doing something 'wrong'
Yes.

He may have Papal Infallibility but that doesn't mean that what he did was right.
My 'Yes'was to Ladybirder.
