Am I alone in finding this AZED impossibly hard? Usually I find it very tough but 'doable'. But this time there are so many clues that I can't answer that I have given up. These include Across 16,17,24 & 33 and down 8,9,18,19 & 24

I agree with you - got off to a great start but hit a brick wall. Will come back to it tomorrow!

The only one of those that I got was 16a SCEND which is the first letters of 5 words (the snouts) "Sounders can eagerly no doubt" and SCEND can plunge into a trough
