13 Persepolis - it's one of the 'without definition' answers.
7 Breather, break from routine. Re, on, inside Bather, swimmer.
13 is another of the 'without definition' answers - it might reveal too much if I give you that one too!
As a hint, the 'dog' could belong to the British Queen...

Thanks NAC.
How does Persepolis parse?
I believe dogs are corgis.
31 Yes, you've got the right dog.
13 I didn't bother parsing... I'll have another look!

I got 31a. Nice hint on 31a , NAC.
It is an anagram of "C+poison pen letters" - the letters of "content"
Glad my hint helped.
Thanks, jj - I'd just worked that out.
Question Author
Thanks jj and NAC
Hankir, glad we could help. I thought this was a delightful puzzle.
anagram of c poison pen letters, with letters of "content" removed
Nescio, I think you forgot to scroll - I've done that before myself!
there were only four answers when I posted - something must not have updated...

For some reason, I am finding this more difficult than other EVs.

BTW, what is the reference to years in 11a (1963) and 29a (1468) ?
Hankir, it WAS tough, but I felt it was worth it. The 1963 reference is very British, it relates to vehicle registrations.
29 A. The date, 1468, is when the Burgundians did something. I didn't investigate, got it from the wordplay - put in the first letter of '?aid' and the last four in 's????'. You end up with a place.

Thanks NAC.
I had penciled 1468 answer in without knowing why.
This is the first time I have seen a clue like this.

I think this is about vertical structures and what supports them.
I am assuming that parts of 1d and 8d are similar.
You're welcome, Hankir. I thought it was an odd clue, I didn't like it very much! Yes, re 1 D and 8 D.
