The eye of a sirloin steak is on average about 3 inches wide, by 6/7 inches long, so why do supermarkets pack this on to a plastic tray that's three times the size of the steak. Its easy to make you think you have a bigger steak at the cost of the environment.

Have you thought about just giving up meat?
Or supermarkets?
What's your opinion of sardines in a tin ?
i thought you barely shopped in supermarkets?
yet you selflessly go in with your magnifying glass so you can let us poor saps who dont have minds of our own know how we're being ripped off
Supermarkets only have a very few sizes of tray . So they use the smallest one that will hold the product.
Steak ,as all meat, is sold by weight not size!
If the tray is 3 times the size of the steak, would that not make you think you'd bought a tiny steak?
Why don't folk just take along their own containers for fresh meat. Don't buy pre-packed. Butchers are happy to weigh your mince and put it in your tupperware (other brands available) container.
3 times the size of the steak. Where are you shopping?
