Just to add...I presume he was driving with one hand on the steering wheel, while holding his Mobile phone/camera with the other !
Apart from 'Death by Dangerous' I believe the maximum sentence for a driving offence is 6 months mikey.
So he will serve 3 months with the last month out 'on tag'
He will have a lengthy ban as well plus court costs and a 'victim surcharge' to pay.
Hopefully a long ban.

Eddie...banned for life would be nice !
He doesn't live that far from me and only 5 mins from where I work!

Dreadful dodger !
^^ she only got 3 years because she was charged with attempting to cause GBH with intent, rather than just driving offences.
Mikes, he was jailed for 28 months plus a 10 year ban. Needs a driving retest after. His daughter was given a 2 year ban for encouraging dangerous driving plus a 18 month conditional discharge

///Davis was sentenced to 28 months in prison and disqualified from driving for 10 years after being convicted by a jury of four counts of dangerous driving, while his daughter Jordan (right) was found guilty of inciting or encouraging dangerous driving and given a two-year ban and an 18-month conditional discharge///
"Apart from 'Death by Dangerous' I believe the maximum sentence for a driving offence is 6 months mikey. "

There are a few motoring offences which go beyond the six month limit for Magistrates, Eddie:

Causing death by dangerous driving: 14 years
Dangerous Driving: 2 Years (which mens I don't know how this creature got 28 months, unless he had more than one charge)
Causing death by careless driving: 5 Years
Causing death whilst driving uninsured/unlicensed/disqualified: 2 years
^^ Thanks yet again NJ. It says there were 5 charges of dangerous driving.
Could the judge have sentenced several sentences to run sequentially rather than concurrently?
Seems he must have done, Eddie.

It is unusual for this to be done even though the offences were clearly separate occurences. Anyway, good on the judge.

He can apply to have his disqualification (of ten years) lifted after five years. The Road Traffic Offenders Act makes provison for drivers to apply to have their ban lifted as after the following periods:

(a) after two years, if the disqualification is for less than four years,

(b) after one half of the period of disqualification, if it is for less than ten years but not less than four years,

(c) after five years in any other case

The application has to be made to the same court that imposed the ban so hopefully should this nutcase try he will be dealt with by a suitably unsympathetic judge.
The chance of him ever driving again must be pretty much zero!
Can't ever see him getting insured.
