I'm nearly there but it's been a struggle!
I need help on the last three (all wordplay either has a missing or extra letter)
36 across: Sally outwardly about to flaunt for Cameron (5) S???E 21 down: Woman's absorbed by verse with no finish to rhyme. Perplexing! (7) POTHER?
31 down: Injure man from Arabia, perhaps (4) O?A?
Also I can't find the 'eventual successor to one of them' the obvious person isn't in the grid (well I can't find them!) please could some kind person point me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance

36 Skyre
21 Pothery
31 Omar (in clue)

The successor was near the top of the grid
I've had to think to remember the wordplay for these...
36 S+Y are the outside (outwardly) letters of Sally and Re is about/regarding. The 'k' was extra. Skyre is Scottish (for Cameron) to flaunt.

21 Poetry loses the 'e' (the end of rhyme) and her/woman is inserted. I think this gives an extra 'r'.

Thank you Neveracrossword
Hi

Missing letter in 21D is N:parsed as POTRY ("verse with no finish to rhyme") absorbing HE(N), a term for a woman in some parts of the UK !
Thanks for that, gregsdad - I remembered all my answers, but not the extra/missing letters.
I have the successor hidden in bottom row of grid.
Boreas is more likely to have the correct answer!
Spassky was the losing player, Karpov the successor in 1973 to the winner, Fischer.
