it looks as if the British have to pay more for their pleasures than the French. No wonder they call it rip-off Britain. Unless British sex and drugs are of measurably better quality than those you get abroad.
I'm curious as to how the figures are measured. While I know that there are a few ladies of the night who keep books and pay tax, there will almost certainly be far more that don't. Similarly, the drug-dealers I know almost certainly don't submit information (either in the form of tax returns or anything else) to the UK government or to the CEBR.

Don't the authorities calculate that they intercept about 1/10 of the drugs destined for our streets? They could multiply the street value of what they have by 9 to find the value of what they've missed.
Calculating the red light income seems much more of a problem.
