We think we've finished the Genius, and have an answer to change 11a into; but we're not totally happy with it. It doesn't seem in keeping with the rest of the crossword whh was all rather clever. This one just seems too mundane!
As I am the guy mamalynne quoted to help you, there is nothing more I can say to help you without revealing the 2 answers completely, and they will make sense if you "see" both, I promise you!
@Mamyalynne: the definition of 11a is the 1st 2 words. The rest is wordplay, ignoring the last word.
I’m not happy with the word I've changed it to, as I find it pejorative. (And it doesn’t make 7d a real word, so it must be wrong.)
tykewriter, three points:
1. I don't think it matters that the word you change 11a to is "pejorative":
no-one says it shouldn't be!
2. The word-play in the correct solution is perfect as a cryptic clue to the title.
3. 7d then forms a perfectly normal word, too.
So, Maurice, you've probably reached the same conclusion as us; the title provides a cryptic clue to 11a, but with no definition (and really not much relevance to the theme)
