Goodly suggested earlier but not why, sorry
I took it to be 'goodly', as although it looks like an adverbial form of 'good', and hence 'well', it isn't. I wasn't too happy with it, though.
Fine = well.
Well is the generally accepted adverb form of good.
So not well but good .
EG ..he had a goodly appearance ..he looked well .
