No, it isn't being blamed on that. They just contacted the charity that was set up for those causes and the charity helped them to get out.
I'm not sure it can be based on such as yet given the scant details so far - the reason for that particular Charity's involvement seems to be because they took the calls from the women.

Presumably more details will emerge eventually.

AOG - No it can't be blamed on those concepts - why would it be?
No...how could it be ? What evidence do you have that makes you think that ?
The Mail seems to have its knickers in a bit of a knot over this one with two separate, and possibly unrelated, stories running concurrently. We don’t know who kept them in captivity, do we?

They appear to have contacted Freedom initially, but according to the article…..

//They are in the care of a charity who deal with people who are deeply traumatised.//
No, and it isn't being. Does the fact that the woman rang this charity make you think it was?

A person is being kept in slavery. They see or are told of a charity called Freedom. They contact that charity. Now, given the name, what sort of help would you think it aims to give? Would you think "It must be about forced marriages and honour-based violence?
AOG

We don't know yet, and there's very little to go on.

If the point you're raising is that Freedom was the wrong organisation to contact, I would suggest you are wrong, because they are now free.

In this case, would you not agree that the ends completely justifies the means?

And as a bonus, because this will no doubt be a highly newsworthy case, it will raise the profile of the charity, perhaps leading to more women contacting them for help?
Multi agency communication working as it should, well done to all of them.

Thank goodness Freedom Charity did something positive and did not dismiss it as being none of their remit.
Which agency they contacted is irrelevant. They contacted someone - and that's all they needed to do. I've no doubt any charity would have helped them.
Any human would have helped them!
This is all very strange. Weren't those who were able to contact the so called 'outside word' aware that they were being enslaved? Why didn't they do something about it. So many questions. And if they were enslaved, how come they were allowed to watch television? I find this all extremely peculiar. Who are these people? Are they British?

From the report:

"[The victims are] a 69-year-old Malaysian woman, a 57-year-old Irish woman and a 30-year-old British woman.

Got to say, Lindylou has a point. It will be interesting to see how this case develops.
Lots more to emerge here, agreed.
I have heard on the news this morning, that the 2 people believed to be responsible for this have been given bail. Now I know that we are not aware of all, or even many of the details here, but I am surprised that are not still kept in custody. Surely this affair is far to serious to allow bail ?
Depends what conditions are attached to the bail, mikey. Bail is of right except in murder. It can be refused on certain set grounds but it may well be that none of them applied here; for example, the likelihood of further offences.
I don't think people are kept in custody these days unless they're considered to be a danger to the public. I doubt these two will be doing it again soon.
