I have put in an order with the above and confirmed the order the next day. The total was £1125.00. A week or so later I got a text from Hillarys saying if I ordered shortly I would get a discount. I phoned Hillarys and have received the grand sum of £10 off.
Has anyone ordered from Hillarys like this and what discount did you get? I really cant see £10 as much of a carrot and feel if I had not placed an early order the discount would have been more.

Whilst they don't have to do anything,
a discount of less than 1% is a joke!
How did you order?

Via one of their Agents? In your home?

Did you ask/receive a discount from them in the first place?
My knowledge of Hillary's Blinds is that their Agents fold pretty easily on pricing.

Although you had already ordered, it seems you were still within the 'cooling off' period (14 days i think)

so you could threaten to cancel unless you are convinced you've had a good deal

They came to my home.
I did not ask for any discount.
The man I spoke to on the phone today said discount was given as I have used them before.
No discount was mentioned at the time.
Passed the 14 day period so cannot cancel.
We get their leaflets through the door often...always seem to be offering 50% off! However, you have to ask "off what?"
Maybe the question you have to ask yourself is;

before i received the text, was i happy with the deal?

the £10 for 'existing customer' is a red herring - the price bands the Agents can work within are pretty broad. The more they charge compared with what they pay Hillary's for the product - then the more they make. The more discount they give, the less they make.

If you can compare the price with alternative suppliers of a similar product, that is the only valid yardstick
I had a quote from them for £220, before finding an identical blind at Argos for £25, so i wouldn't go with them at all.

Thank you.
I guess the damage is done now although I don't feel terribly ripped off more P***** off :-) I feel they have taken advantage of my naivety.......but you live you learn.

Just to finalise this matter.
A quote for £800 has been received from a local recommended company compared to £1125.00 from Hillarys - which I was stupid enough to accept.
Lesson learnt - get a couple of quotes before you accept some smooth talking salesman!!
