Two to do, and I'm going crazy.

4D. Philosopher with key used one. L?C?E? Surely must be LOCKE + R but I can't see why R is 'key'.

7D. Repeatedly looking like this, say, to annoy top dog. P?E? All I can think of is PEER , but I can't justify it.

Thanks on advance.

peek ?
locked
PEEK?
peep?
Or Keep?
Peer - to look intently and a nobleman surely
Locked - Locked + d (musical) key?
Peek? (Pique Peke)?
None of these feels quite right. Why 'repeatedly'? Why 'annoy'?
I think it's PEEK (play on words with pique and peke)
I agree with shoota, peer
peek - say(sounds like) pique, peak, peke
Schism appearing - I'm with factor, 3 homophones
Pique
Peak
Peke.
XXXX Sibs
PEEK = looking

also sounds like annoy = PIQUE, top = PEAK, dog = PEKE
But it might be Peek...
:-)
I agree with Oldred, although I'm still not sure why the clue says 'repeatedly'
Factor, repeatedly saying what sounds like the same word.
repeat peek 3 times
The clue to &D actually reads "look" (="peek") "not looking".
"Repeatedly" I'd imagine refers to the fact that it "repeatedly" looks like each of the three other homophones
At last, thank you, ichk
