Surely dithering Dave needs to step in and help this man?

// Prof Tulloch, 70, who traces his ancestry here back to the 14th century, was born to British parents in a British colony. He has a British wife, children and brother. He was raised and educated in Britain from the age of three, has substantial assets and property here and has lived or worked in the UK for most of his life, holding a series of posts at British universities. He even held a British passport.
But now, his passport has been confiscated and he faces expulsion from Britain in the latest bizarre twist in this country’s “Kafkaesque” immigration laws. //

I agree it makes no sense. However 'Home Office sources said that it was still open to Prof Tulloch to apply for leave to remain in the country if he wished.' I hope he does - and I hope he succeeds.
this may be barmy, and would go along with that, but there are plenty of others who have overstayed their welcome, those are the ones the immigration authorities should be concentrating on. And those who proclaim that having family here entitles them to all the country can offer, despite being criminals, rapists, murderers, human rights has to be fair after all.

Do you think he should have to?

Slightly off question there em10. Do try and concentrate.
Gromit, no I don't think he should have to. As Em says, there are plenty who should be thrown out - but he isn't one of them.
Gromit, wish you were as funny as your namesake, what you going to do for an encore,
it wasn't off thread, but pertinent to the question. He should apply for British citizenship if that what it takes, as opposed to some of the cretins who have landed here and claimed that because they have a cat, dog, or ten babies with ten different women they are entitled to all that Britain offers
^^ Quite right!
Question Author
Immgrants have been let to stay in the UK because they have a dog. Or a cat.

That is terrible. I wish to learn more, would you kindly link to an example.
keep up dear boy. AOG would so proud.
naomi, snap. x
Oops. You beat me to it, em.

Must dash - see you later chaps.
did you think i was pulling a fast one. There are more cases like this, stupid decisions about people who have no business being here. No business at all.
bye Naomi
I think Prof Tulloch is in much the same boat as the late comedian, Spike Milligan, who was also born in India. Milligan eventually acquired an Irish Passport. I wonder does Prof Tulloch have any Irish blood?
could be.
Em, do you think she's off to church? ;-)
