I've got most of the answers and have 'sorted out' most of the letters to be removed from longer words to make them shorter (though I havn't sorted out the complete instruction)
But........ I'm not sure what to 'add' to the answers that need to be made longer, i.e. 42across, 26down, 29down.
I'm, as usual, probably being thick!

Just a bit in front of you - the top line and the bottom line have the same 7 thematic letters.

I have nearly all 20 but don't know what they tell me to do.

It seems a long time ago when I did this and I am working from memory - does the top row have something that could be moved to bottom to recall a centenary.
Hope I've remembered correctly.

I completed this on Saturday and it is similar to a few other thematic crosswords this week. From memory (I haven't a copy available) I think that something on the top row might end up on the bottom row. Hope this helps and I've remembered the right crossword.

You have got the right one - |I get that now - I already had it in place at the bottom so did't see what the instruction meant - having said that my instruction reads 4,4,2,SSRT,6 I assume it should be SORT though I can't see how and when I move the 7 I don't always get real words left.

I'm getting a bit fed up with this theme in so many crosswords (hopefully it's now sunk !)
