Talked to my sis earlier she is doing nothing tomorrow night, then talked to a close mate, neither is he. Felt sorry they might be alone on NYE so I invited them round. I have some food, but will need to shop again. Was thinking starter, sorbet, main, sweet, cheese and biscuits and port.

For starter I have potentially scallops in a sauternes sauce - although I have just made RedHelen's chili tomato ice cream so I could do something with that. Any ideas?!

Main, I have no idea. Either filllet of beef topped with with mushroom gratin or chicken stuffed with wild mushrooms and pancetta in marsalla sauce. No idea about accompanients yet.

As for sweet, I have a lemon and sultana cheesecake in the fridge which I made yesterday. Probably ought to do a quick and easy extra sweet.

Me and my gob. Any ideas? Me and the OH are meant to be going out for the day tomorrow so I need something quick but impressive (both are "foodies"!).

lol, Vodka, I have neither. But I have to go to town first thing anyway so could pop into Waitrose.

Anne - lol, my OH would appreciate that, he's a Scot!!!!

NIce idea though, I could do a mid course of haggis and neeps and tats............. Now you got me thinking.

why not go the scallops and serve RH's ice cream as a savoury - like a sorbet before the main course...I must say I have never tasted chili tomato ice cream.

The beef I would keep simple - just add some nice French green beans(garlic?) and perhaps a carrot mousse. Get some cheese and nice bread and then your cheesecake....

Presume you have the wine in?
How about chicken stuffed with haggis and a whiskey cream sauce?

DT no wine yet, but I have to go into town tomorrow and I park in Majestic's car park!

Vodka, now that sounds just perfect!!!!!!!!!!

Barmaid off topic, how on earth did you identify floyd as a troll, I was actually beginning to feel sorry for him. I must have a lot yo learn
Scotch Broth or Tattie soup
Stovies
Black Bun with ice cream

Sorted!!
Need any suggestions and budget?
we all spotted it sibton, of course we were called lemon suckers.. ;)
If you're pushed for time I'd go for something easy like some french beans or mange tout and some new potatos done in a herby/garlicky sauce.

For a quick starter I love duck in a rocket with sweet chilli sauce, simple but lovely.
