Rice cooker problems

Can anyone help with a problem I have with my recently purchased rice cooker? Well the problem is that the rice I cook (Asda brand Basmati) always ends up a sticky mess. I have carefully measured the correct amount of rice, i.e. 4 level cups, then rinsed until the drained water is clear, then empty rice into the pan and level out before finally adding water up to the correct level.

Interestingly the first time I used the cooker it worked great. I had some other brand Easy Cook Basmati Rice which worked perfect. However using the standard (non-easy) variety it doesn't cook properly.

I have tried adding more or less water with no success. Would it perhaps be something to do with the way the rice is washed. How about not washing, or rinsing more times etc?

We use rice-cooker in our daily life, but sometimes we get face some problem with it. The way they work is simply by temperature. When the water has run dry, the rice gets hotter and it senses that and cuts off. So it makes sense that when you add more water, it boils for longer/hotter to get rid of the water.

What you have to do is stop the machine before it's completely finished, and let it sit in the "keep warm" setting for the rest of the time until the water is absorbed rather than brutally boiled away by the machine.
