A couple of weeks ago, I made a rice pudding in my slow cooker, delicious it was, but the cooker was a bit of a pain to clean afterwards as the pot is big and rather unwieldy.

So today, I have put the rice pudding ingredients into a pyrex bowl and put the bowl into the slow cooker which has some hot water in it. I have set it on high.

Do you think it will work? Can anyone foresee any problems? I think the milk might boil over but I don't know.

I have only just put it on, Helly. You might have a long wait. :-)

I shall, HC.
You can buy slow cooker liners (I got mine on Amazon), they are like a plastic bag which you line the crockpot with and then put all the ingredients in to cook. Worth a try perhaps?

I'll have a look, Chokkie. Thank you.

Given your picture, let the dog clean the slow cooker. My dogs love cleaning the pans after making dinner.

She wouldn't be able to reach inside it, GSD, she's too short.

Now my last dog, a GSD, would have been in heaven licking it out. The trouble would be that ceramic bowl would be traversing the kitchen floor with each and every lick. :-)

It's looking good so far and the house smells of ambrosia. :-)
Was it OK Tilly? I might try it myself if it was.

It was lovely Hellywelly and much cheaper to make and easier to clean. No messy slow cooker pot.
The milk didn't boil over and there was no problem. I did keep stirring it at hourly intervals. It took approximately four hours on high.
Mmmm interested in result too
Tilly, the technique is called pot in pot.....google for recipes
Many thanks.

Chokkie, I had a look at those slow cooker liners but the liner is not biodegradable and I don't really want to add to the plastic pollution. Thank you for the suggestion though.

Woof, I did google 'pot in a pot' but all the recipes I found seem to be for pressure cookers rather than slow cookers.
