Press 9. phone scam....

I keep getting automated calls saying "you've won a holiday,press 9 for more info".....apparently if you do press 9, you get put through to an extotionate premium line and get fleeced.......don't press 9 people.

I'd be surprised if a charge would result just from pressing 9. Have you got a link to anything on the web?

whilst the calls are undoubtedly a scam in the long run, pressing 9 will not put you through to a premium rate number, that warning is a hoax.
The pressing "9" just tells them there is a human being on the other end of the line and they have a real number, then the calls will keep on coming and coming and coming.
If I ring you tonight & said to you, if you send me £30 for a holiday you do not even know about would you believe me? we get them all the time Oscardoodles, put the phone down they will get the message.
You can't win a holiday if you haven't gone in for a competition, it's a scam.
