My 12 year old son has been charged with racial abuse for calling an asian boy a "Mars Bar" during a football match, which he denies, but is this racist?

just about everything is seen as racist nowadays, scared to open my mouth half the time
Personally, I don't think so - but like weeal said, anything can be twisted be accused of rasism. Can't you argue 'rhyming slang' as a form of defence, however what rhymes with 'car' that could be applicable is challenging...
It's the same as calling someone a bounty bar I would imagine. It's a reference to outside skin colour and inside actions. Not really very nice.

Unfortunately the Hampshire FA seem to have made up their mind and it is one boys word against another, but I cant see any racist intent in Mars Bar anyway
Take as a "compliment", sweet, tempting and
helps you work rest and play!! Political
correctness gone mad as usual, soon we'll be
insulting a pea for being green!
I can see it, he's basically calling a kid chocolate - referring to his skin colour. It's racist, although not the worst case I've ever seen

If he didn't do it, then the other kid needs a slap and if he did do it, then he should be ashamed of himself
just don't let the asian kid take any corners........he might open a shop!!!!!!!
I am sure Delboy Trotter used to cal someone a mars bar in OFAH.
What happened to 'sticks and stones will break your bones but names will never hurt you'!
Usual PC nonsense.
Sounds a bit like the joke which did the rounds when I was a kid, a year or 2 ago:

What do you call 2 Packies in a sleeping bag?

Twix!

By the way I do not think this joke is funny, and I do think the aforementioned term is racist!
If the boy is Muslim, you have to remember that approximately 98.467 percent of muslim children are raped by their fathers.

If so, you can see why he took offence at such a term, as he probably has a miserable life at home.

But to answer your question, no being called a mars bar is not racist per se, but if the complaint is followed through the boy and the family will receive a bigger council house, a free car and the right to have the fathers many wives come over here and support terrorism, like most do.
If you think being called a Mars Bar is not racist, what do you think it refers to?

exactly red. this country is the only one in the world that cannot say anything. I feel that I am being racially victimised in this country for being white and having been born here!

i'm of the belief that racism comes in many forms. take segregation at airports for example. why should people from one country goes through one immigration line and those from another country go to a different line? You can see racism eveywhere but some is acceptable and some isn't. Smacks of double standards to me.
Nice to see the police now their priorities

like when I tell them about blatent drug dealing at traffic lights where I live, and what has been done....
