One meaning of the word, dating back to the 1700s, was the target curlers aim at. Perhaps it was used to mean 'target' in other activities, too. As a result, if something is said to be "male-bird on", it means exactly right or spot on. (I use male-bird as an acceptable substitute and deplore - yet again - the totally absurd censorship that necessitates its use.)
stopcocks got passed - does that make it **** on then?
