Hi blondie, could it be the "pick" of the litter
Hi, There is no opposite to runt this means only the smallest and most vulnerable of the litter, where the rest are healthy
In dog/cat breeding, the 'pick' of the litter is what we would describe as the best or the one you would choose to keep for showing or breeding from. This of course could be a different one depending on who's doing the 'picking' i.e. the breeder could choose their favourite, but if the stud dog/cat owner is going to get one back in lieu of a stud fee, their 'pick' of the litter may not be the breeder's choice.
Excellent answer, lankeela!
