Blimey O'Reilly Balders forgetting what he went into the office for.....could it be he has altzheimers? I find myself stopping in my tracks on a regular basis, wondering what I am looking for/why I've gone upstairs. Should I be worried?!

don't know if you were joking about the Alzheimers, but it has actually been widely publicised that this is indeed where the storyline is going. I also find myself sometimes forgetting things, particularly people's names at the moment, I bought some Gingko Bilbao tablets which are supposed to help with memory, but I keep forgetting to take them!

Everybody has those top of the stairs why did I come up here moments, and it is not Alzheimer's disease. You can see that Mike is suffering from many lapses of very short term memory. He is clever and fast and covers it up quickly, but some people just get stuck and can't move on. That almost happened to Mike when he got back to the factory for the ring. He knew it was somehow important but was grappling with the lost memory of what it was.

The difference between normal forgetfulness and Alzheimer's disease, is that the normal top of the stairs moments can be recovered by going back, either physically or in your mind, to the point at which you set off to trigger the hidden memory back into consciousness. In Alzheimer's, the memory appears to be truly lost, and no amount of coaxing will bring it back. It must be mightily frustrating.
