Might be a decent few months for private tutors I guess.
I hope there's enough support for everyone, best of luck.
I think I am just having an abrupt change of career!! Not to teacher. To errr "not sure what I am going to do today"!

bm, come and teach my 7 yo?
I'm not sure your 7 year old would benefit from anything I could teach her!

How much use do you think it will be for her to know the Wills Act 1837, and how to get the last drop out of a box of wine?!
you never know, some parents might learn something
Not so much me, but I have offered my daughter’s help with maths for anyone around here that needs it.
Surely the teachers will be giving them work to do? Online? to be honest a seven year old is hardly going to challenge you intellectually is she lol!

i doubt i'll be challenged intellectually (or nothing i couldnt google anyway) but i guess teaching isnt just about the lessons.

ps they've been doing fronted adverbials - who would even know that without googling?
I had to home school my 10 year old years ago for around 2 months, we arrived in a new place and they couldn't start the school until the beginning of the next term. Drove me nuts...lol!
Did anyone read my post at 12:45 Thu?
bednobs - // ps they've been doing fronted adverbials - who would even know that without googling? //

My ten year old grandson asked me about this a few weeks ago, and I was amazed at how successive government still manage to wring every last drop of enjoyment out of books and language for children by filling them full of this nonsense.

I have been a professional music journalist for over forty years now, and I have managed that status without ever having the slightest inkling what a 'fronted adverbial' is - and I can't imagine that my grandson is going to enjoy his books any more by knowing it either.

Who dreams up this rubbish????
Surely you've used fronted adverbials yourself, without even knowing it?

@sherrard does she do online tutorials??
I tried Naomi but I couldn't get it to load properly. My son is a secondary school teacher and they are going into school next week.

There is probably a joke in there for those intelligent enough to understand it. I on the other had, do not :)

Nope, independent does not allow adblockers so i cant
As well as the resources the school will direct you towards, BBBC Bitesize is a good place for the basics.
