I just had a run in with such a nice lady in Sainsburys. She'd spread her shopping on the conveyor belt with lots of empty space both at the til end, and between her items. She then put the divider down right on the edge. I asked if she could move her things a bit so I could put my few items down. Oh no...she said she had to wait until the belt moved...and anyway, I didn't have much so I could wait. I asked, what if I had a full basket? Oh,"you can just put it down on the empty ones". I asked what she thought we did before we had conveyor belts. "Oh, you would know...you was around in them days"...said like it was an insult. And she just kept insisting there was nothing she could do, as the belt needed to move things...that's what it was there for.
Sheeeesshhh! What are people like?

Good grief how horrible for you...…...I would have a nice cup of tea if I were you...……..you should have reported her to the Manager for doing her shopping, how dare she.
I once saw a similar situation and the person behind, without a word just swept everything swiftly to the till end -replaced the bar and put their shopping on.
A long queue formed this morning at our local Sainsbury’s when a almost scrum started bu a 30 something, not sure what part of “We are operating between 8-9am to serve elderly people only”
What part of that she couldn’t understand, I’m not sure
This is why self-isolating is a really good idea.
Well, I won't say I told you so, :0) but( yet again) I got shot down a few weeks ago saying that the main war would be in the supermarket, it may be more intense than the hospitals, resulting in more casualties. He Oh!

I should have known there would be at least one snarky comment.
APG...would you have shifted your shopping up a bit so those behind in the queue can put theirs down?
I just put my arm down and move it all to the front of the belt without saying anything. I have no time for morons. TBH though it's been years since I've used a person operated till anyway.
You have to remember the general public are thick.

Add to this the me me me brigade and you have our current society.

Maybe, just maybe these shortages in shops will bring it home to some who have had it far too easy.
well, actually, she was probably just trying to get you to keep your distance
Pasta yes I would have shifted up my shopping. In fact if I have a lot of stuff I will most often let someone behind me with just a few items go first. However I don't get worked up if someone does not return the favour.

I did think of that bednobs ;)
Maybe I should have coughed and lunged in her direction.
i was in town a few day ago and someone sstopped right by me to take a call. I just coughed and she soon moved :)

Well APG, maybe it was her condescending tone of voice along with her inability to realise she had fully functioning hands and arms, that "got to me".
Pasta -this is not written to be snarky (really) but do you realise there could be a 30 something at this very moment writing on social media about the grumpy old fart she encountered at the supermarket this morning. As Disney said...let it go...let it go.....lol!
Was behind a man at the supermarket checkout today.
He had 3 lemonade bottles on the belt.
The type that are unstable even on a flat surface.
He had them standing upright.
The belt moved and the bottles fell over. He stood them up again. Belt moved. Bottles fell over. This went on 5 more times till he reached the cashier!
Are peoples common sense being affected by this virus?
needawin - I used to work on the checkout a a supermarket and I remember one time a man had stood all his big bottles up on the conveyor belt, and when the belt moved one of the bottles fell over and landed on my hand. And did he say sorry? Nope, he laughed. I was pretty unamused. I always lie my bottles down at the checkout for that reason.
I was also on check outs before moving to CS,, theres some reall nasty pasties out there , believe me
Yes it's common sense to put the bottles flat, I usually add a tin or two either side as well. I'm afraid common sense is no longer common.
She's a moron, pure and simple.

Some Divine Being invented people like this to give us some light relief in these dark times.
I was once behind a couple when the woman 'remembered' she'd forgotten something and went off to get it, leaving her poor chap to finish packing their stuff. She returned, with an armful, and started to berate the poor man about his packing, she emptied everything out and repacked it all, glaring at anyone in the queue who even thought about tutting.
