From the link:
"DUP leader Arlene Foster was the minister at Stormont's Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment (DETI) when it set up the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme in 2012, and in that role SHE signed off on the project." (MY capitals for "she")
Well, well! The very person leading the political party which is currently propping up the Maybot and her party!
Having said that, I do agree with you, TTT, that the so-called 'representatives' - who are doing no 'representing' deserve no pay.
Maybe got the same agent as the TSB guy.

Money for nothing and a brass neck.
We, the people, would be better served by direct rule. Our MLAs could go back on the dole.
I would actually go a little further and ask "Why does the NI Assembly exist at all? Devolution is bad enough but when the governing body is artificially forced to include representatives whose sole aim is to see the end of the province as a separate entity, then the lunatics really are running the asylum.
They should all step down and a new election take place.

No pay until they actually do some work.
It probably exists in the hope it encourages peace and helps deter terrorist activity.
Mrs May should knock both their heads together to make the thing work again.
But unfortunately she is enslavened to the DUP, who are quite happy to be paid vast amounts of tax payers money to do nowt.
Omnishambles as per usual under this terrible terrible Spineless Government.
It's a good question.

I'd pretty much guarantee that if they stopped paying the people involved, the intractable problems would be sorted out in a matter of hours and they'd all be back at work on Monday.
