Freezer Malfunction

Phoned insurance company today. Spoke to very sympathetic lady. So helpful.
Asked me roughly what was the value of the food that was lost. I said about £200. Oh dear how upsetting for you she said. Are you aware you have a £250 excess on your policy?
Not a lot I can do about that now!

I found it really upsetting as I had built up my freezer over a long time, with things I had created, as well as left overs from special meals, but joints, chops, steaks, salmon, prawns and some thing new we had discovered. Battered scallops lots of them in a bag. They were beautiful.
But I have made a start, brought lots back from France, replaced the scallops today, and a load of other stuff. It will take a while but I will get there.

Just tell them you'd forgotten about the takeaway meals which you'd ordered but then decided not to eat straight away, so that they ended up in the freezer.
Now, let's see, they must have included a kebab, a curry, . . . .

I've only got a little 'tabletop' freezer (which actually sits on the floor). Its contents are usually half a dozen frozen ready meals (at, say, £2 each) and another half a dozen ready meals purchased as short-dated items from the chill cabinet in Asda (for, say, £1 each). So I probably don't need insurance!
Anyway, since I've not got a fridge, I need to maintain enough space in my freezer to chill a couple of cans of lager!

>>> Always good to see the correct priorities although Mrs av doesn't agree with mine
Well I'll certainly be getting my priorities right tomorrow, Tony

At least you may replace the stuff you lost. Everything in our freezer was home grown and in there for winter use. All the loganberries, Jostaberries, Raspberries. Black currants, Redcurrants, Strawberries turned to mush. We think that the cat who sleeps on top of the freezer somehow managed to knock the plug out.
Would not have been able to claim anyway as home grown stuff like that has no value as we did not buy it.
