Like the old saying, opinions are like bum holes, we've all got one, but how flexible do you think you are in your opinions? I imagine that we ALL think that we are flexible in our take on things but are we? On this site we have a raft of opinions on almost everything under the sun from politics and religion to diet and health. For my own part I will admit that I often read posts that conflict with my own ideology and make me at least question my beliefs and presuppositions on various issues. Its always an education even if I DONT change my view on a subject. (but I always get to see the 'other side' of an exchange which can only be a good thing) Theres been times when I might have had a drink or two or a bad day and my mouth (or posts) might have run away with me but on rereading later I always find points of other posters that I have to ponder.

SO...how flexible do you think you are in your opinions and has AB ever made you rethink any viewpoints that you have had?
Thanks

Yes and no...
I'm not very flexible but AB has opened my eyes and made me think on some topics - particularly as there are opinions on here that I never come across in conversations with the people I live, work and play with.
Yes. I've completely changed my mind on religion.
AB hasn't really made me change my view on much. Twitter has, or rather some tweeters on Twitter have.
I'm quite open to others perspective on subjects that I read and do respect their opinion etc... but can honestly say I've never being swayed by anything I've read on AB.
I haven't changed my opinion on anything, but of course my opinions are always right.
There was one day last week when I thought I'd made a mistake with one of my opinions, but I was wrong ;-)

Must admit, I almost never post on News, but am always educated by the POVs posted there.
On a serious note, I always respect the opinions of others.
Unfortunately there are those on here who cannot do the same and often become abusive.
I can't be doing with them
One of the things I may have learned that has been a bit less than pleasant is how crap some of my opinions are. Or, hopefully, were.
First of all, i would just like to say what a well written OP that was, from someone who's is supposed to be unattractive to women, overweight, and ex con and a depressive, with alcohol and drug problems.

You are smarter than you think........put you best foot forward........

Now to the question.

No I am inflexible on the majority of issues regarding opinions, listening to counter opinions but my opinion and decisions prevail.
Sometimes i am a winner, sometimes a loser, but never a "ditherer."
I can sometimes be swayed by a well-presented argument. Some of my opinions are too deep-rooted, though.
My principles, so underlying opinions don’t change and haven’t for quite some time.....I do think though that circumstances alter cases and so some of the conclusions that my underlying opinions have led me to have changed.
Good question Nails, I have had to have a think about this before posting. I can honestly therefor say that, my basic social and political beliefs have not been changed. I am from Middleport and raised on Bradder after all, worked down the coalmine at 16 and had most of my core values fixed in a pretty competitive environment. I was educated, from the age of 11 at a Grammar school before being forced to leave and get a job due to family economic pressure. One thing that AB has given me though, through the relatively anonymous, nature of the site, is an opportunity to appreciate the very different people that we all are. I often read a thread, without posting on it, when it is a subject or problem that I have no experience or knowledge of. I also greatly value the tech advice that is available without any consideration given to political or personal preferences. I used to think I was uniquely 'strange' before I participated on here. I now know better.
Togo, strange as you are, would you consider me as the next Mrs.Togo?

I am always open to the ideas of others and prepared to adjust my opinions accordingly but, to date, no one has ever convinced me to do so.

Gladly Tilly. Mind you I do still consider every lovely as the next Mrs Togo.
Yes, indeed. Often see posts that make me look anew at something.
